Sauna stones are lava stones that are intended to distribute the heat from the heating elements.

Sauna stones should be placed between the heating elements. The larger stones should be placed at the bottom, the smaller ones at the top. Do not pack the stones too tightly, as this will prevent air from circulating through the stove and may damage the heating elements. The stones should completely cover the heating elements.

Heat can cause sauna stones to split, so they should be repacked at least once a year. Make sure the stones are not so small that they do not allow air circulation because they are packed too tightly.
