These sauna stones are olivine mineral, which is intended to distribute the heat from the heating elements.
The sauna stones are packed between the heating elements with the largest stones at the bottom: Do not pack too tightly, as this will prevent air circulation between the stones, which should carry the heat out into the sauna room. The elements must be completely covered by sauna stones.
Over time, the stones can crack due to the constant alternation between hot and cold. It is therefore a good idea to take the stones out once a year and pack them back in. If necessary, top up so that the stones still cover all heating elements. The smallest pieces should not be used as they will be too close together and prevent air flow.
The stones have been tested by the Geological Survey of Finland for their suitability for sauna stoves.
